Legacy Fiberoptics Receives Minority and Women-Owned Business Certification

New York State Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise (NYS MWBE)

When Gabriella Marchesani purchased Legacy Fiberoptics in 2022, it was with a promise to uphold the values, commitment to quality, and industry standards to which Legacy customers have become accustomed. In the three short years since, Gabriella, along with her team, has delivered on her commitment and then some, expanding the company’s services and reach, moving operations to a larger facility, and continuing a legacy of excellence in providing service to the ever-expanding telecommunications industry.

In June of 2025, Gabriella reached another significant milestone she has been working toward for some time. Legacy Fiberoptics received the New York State Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (NYS MWBE) Certification, a widely recognized and respected regional certification for minority and women-owned businesses in the state of New York. To achieve certification from NYS Division of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development Council, Legacy Fiberoptics had to complete a thorough documentation and site visit process.

How WBE Certification Benefits Legacy Fiberoptics & Its Customers

Having certification from Empire State Development’s Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development offers businesses like Legacy Fiberoptics many benefits, including access to supplier diversity and procurement executives at hundreds of major U.S. corporations and federal, state, and local government entities.

“This certification also allows us to obtain contracts/jobs from larger customers who may have criteria where they have to award jobs to MWBE companies,” said Gabriella. “If any of our long-time customers, or new customers need to fill that objective, we are able to support them.”

Other NYS MWBE certification benefits include focused procurement opportunities, business tools, training and resources focused on growth and innovation.

Growth on the Horizon at Legacy Fiberoptics

In 2024, Legacy Fiberoptics doubled its workspace by moving to a larger facility in Utica, New York, which is more conducive to the company’s growth trajectory. “We have become the Authorized Service Center for Inno, acquired the customer service department of Laser Probe and invested in new equipment to expand our services into the radio frequency world,” said Gabriella.

As the industry continues to grow, Legacy is dedicated to growing with it. “We are committed to continuing to provide quality support to loyal equipment customers while growing our services to meet developing industry needs,” she added.

From its earliest days through today, Legacy Fiberoptics remains dedicated to providing the highest quality fiber optic products and OTDR repair services to customers globally. With more than 15 years of industry experience, they are proven experts at what they do.

“In 2026, we plan to establish more intentional and meaningful relationships that will grow our service and repair center as well as our fiber characterization service,” said Gabriella. “Our expertise can’t be beat, and now, it’s time to really capitalize on it.”
